Marshall County REMC is always prepared to respond swiftly to outages and restore power safely, but it’s equally important for members to understand which parts of the electric system are their responsibility––and which are maintained by the co-op.
As a distribution electric cooperative, we own and maintain distribution lines that you see leaving the transmission substation in “The Modern Grid” graphic below. We do not own any transmission lines or maintain them. The power we purchase to distribute to our members on our distribution system travels to our substations via the transmission system.
Understanding these key differences can help speed up repairs and ensure everyone stays safe when the weather turns rough. Questions about your equipment? Contact us at 574-936-3161.
